Shearcut knives are a two-part construction: Part one is the cutting edge insert precision ground to give a clean cool cut. Part two is the insert holder base which is made of a hardened material for durability. The blades are set at an angle which allows only the cutting edge to touch the plate, reducing friction and conserving power. Shearcut holders and inserts are available for break or finish grind operations. The finish knives are designed with a thin, cool cutting insert, while break grind knives have a stronger, thicker insert.
