The purpose of the dew point meter is to be able to read the temperature at which the water, which the CO2 consists of, is set free. 

The principle of the dew point meter is that a flow of CO2 is lead through a nozzle pipe to the surface of a cooled cup, and when dew is developed on the surface, the temperature is read on the temperature gauge, as the dewpoint.
